Why a Librarian Reading Group? Why this blog?

Because I want: Collaboration Motivation Conversation Craic

Working as a solo librarian within the New York Courts, I do not have opportunities to discuss library literature. I want to enjoy the viewpoints and interests of other librarians.

A definition of craic is "a sense of fun, enjoyable conversation, banter."  The articles that described writing and reading groups have a serious tone; I miss conviviality and challenge. I want this group to encourage wit and authority.

I would like to meet monthly with other librarians to discuss professional literature and to have conversations about ideas and professional writing in a calmer atmosphere than LLAGNY's networking events.

My ambition for this group is that it encourage participants to also write, either in blogs, reviews, or in-depth articles.

Contact me at Jacqueline Cantwell if you are interested in participating.
